The newest pipe organ to be built in Singapore after the Klais organ of the Esplanade, this instrument is also the first in Singapore to be housed in a school.
The idea to include an organ within the College’s theatre was to provide the icing on the cake to the school’s already extensive music and orchestral programme.
The organ was manufactured by Diego Cera Organbuilders in Las Pinas, Manila. Installation commenced in June 2017 and was completed in November of the same year. The instrument utilises a combination of trackers and electromagnets as its action.
The organ material is composed of ebony and molave for the keys and mahogany within the hardwood frame. The acoustics of the theatre were adjusted to increase the reverberation time of the organ.
